*Je me permets un petit recensement des phrases ayant causé 'souci':ce recensement permet de cibler les points faibles => pour plus d'efficacité dans les 'soins'
- Avant tout : => N° 6 (pour 6 d'entre vous)
> They were walking along the road and it was raining.
- Vient ensuite => N° 3 (pour 5 d'entre vous)
> When she saw us, she ran away.
( 1 réponse sur 5 à cause du verbe 'see'/ 4 réponses sur 5 à cause du verbe 'run' )
- Ensuite : N°5 (2 réponses inexactes)
> The children stood up when the Head came into the room.
- Puis : N°10 (2 réponses inexactes)

Dans ces 3 messages supplémentaires on trouve confirmation que la réponse N°3 est sujette à interprétation:
1- When she saw us, she ran away.
ou:
2- When she saw us, she was running away.=> C'est dans les intentions de celui qui prononce la phrase que la solution se trouve:
1- Quand elle nous vit/nous a vus/, elle s'enfuit (passé simple)/ s'est enfuie (passé composé) : elle nous a vus (et de ce fait), elle s'est enfuie.
2- Quand elle nous vit, elle était en train de s'enfuir (...she was running away) > Sa fuite n'avait pas de rapport avec le fait de nous voir comme dans la phrase 1.
> La première solution me paraît la meilleure parce qu'il y a une succession d'actions: Action 1 (she saw us = elle nous a vus), Action 2 (she ran away = elle s'est enfuie). On pourrait imaginer une suite d'actions au prétérit simple : When she saw us, she ran away, she managed to take a taxi...(elle réussit à prendre un taxi...etc.)
Les nuances, c'est parfois bien compliqué, parce que cela se passe dans les 'intentions' de celui qui parle.
De belles en perspective!

Bonjour!
- isa, jane, marit, celbaz, good doggy, jammy : pouvez-vous vous reporter à la correction-bilan faite plus haut et voir dans quellel catégorie vous vous rangez? - Elle se trouve juste avant la réponse de isa. Désolée de ne pas vous avoir attendus! Je ne pensais pas qu'il y aurait d'autres 'candidats'.
- pour QCM (J'ai oublié dans ce post de rappeler avant l'exercice que ce sont les 3 lettres de Questionnaire à Choix Multiple (en anglais: Multiple Choice Questionnaire : le mot important est à la fin de l'expression anglaise au début de l'expression française, ce qui faire faire des erreurs de traduction!)
- Peut-être serait-il mieux que j'attende davantage la prochaine fois? Je vais envoyer, aujourd'hui si l'ordinateur est libre, une petite mise au point (très simple: des choses à retenir) sur le prétérit suivie d'un exercice d'application. Je ne traîne pas (quand je vois qu'il y a un certain nombre de réactions) en fonction de mon emploi du temps.

Hello jardin,

J'attends la suite avec impatience... Mais comment se fait-il (damned !) que je pense maîtriser les temps (lorsque je les révise) et puis, patatras, un mois après, je me retrouve comme au début... Oublier les since, for, lately, all day et tout le reste.
Je m'inquiète. Celà est-il dû à une perte inexorable de neurones, à des inattentions de ma part (dont j'ai toujours été, malheureusement, friande) ou bien pire ?

En tout cas, et ne t'inquiète pas, je pense que personne ne fuiera...

Je vois que tous les fans du site, même les plus avancés, ont fait ce QCM ... Cela nous permet de revoir les bases, et je vois que je fais pas l'exception ... Nous attendons avec impatience un exercice plus difficile !
Merci de prendre du temps pour la correction, alors qu'il doit y avoir pas mal de choses à faire dans le jardin en ce moment, ne serait-ce que contempler ?

*Vous êtes des 'drôles' quand même! mais ça donne très envie de continuer en tout cas!
La suite s'installe... Après ce QCM 'délirant' une petite dose de rappels peut-être que j'enverrai sous le nom de: 'souvenirs, souvenirs...'
Merci celbaz de penser à mon jardin qui est très prenant et dans lequel je fais quasiment tout, sauf tronçonner parce que 'on' juge que je ne fais pas le poids :Mais je m'en sors en grignotant sur la nuit pour le travail des neurones ( ne t'en fais pas grabuge! quand mes élèves gémissent à cause de cela, je leur dis 'chaque fois que l'on apprend quelque chose de nouveau, il y a une fuite ailleurs : nous n'avons pas assez de chaises pour tout le monde'! Moi, je suis là pour faire tourner, remonter à la surface, rattaper les évadés de la mémoire, leur donner des travaux d'intérêt publics (= les exercices!)
