Thanks. I just thought that "course" meant a university course? And class=cours?
Or is this because of the difference between Oxford English and American English?

Hi !
I have found :
animateur (= professionnel, de spectacle, émission de jeux ) = host
animateur( de camp de vacances) = activity leader.
My second defiinition is better for your need !
See you later ! I think your text should be in ' forum général' cos we had wrote in french, and french is not allowed here !
Please if in my text there are mistakes, can you tell me it ?

1) course = cours
ce n'est pas seulement un course donné à l'école.
Ca peut être un cours de basket par exemple.
Par exemple:
-he took a course in basket.
- Did you follow the course? (as-tu suivi le cours?)
2) lecture = un cours de faculté, une conférence
Teaching by giving a discourse on some subject (typically to a class)
par exemple:
- He never attends the lectures. (Il n'assiste jamais aux cours)
Ici, on parle d'un cours d'université.
3) class
pour le mot "class", je ne sait pas trop te dire. Je pense que c'est un synonyme de "course" mais...
Peut-être quelqu'un d'autre sera nous éclairé sur ce point ?

When I was a university student in England, I had to register for a "course" at the beginning of the year :South African contemporary literature, for example. After registration, I had to attend the "lectures", that's right.
But actually I'm still doubtful about the word that should be used on a "lycée" level..
Thanks for your help anyway!

aldo--we use "course" at the lycée level and beyond. No problem.
"animateur de centre de loisirs"? would be called the "Acivities Director". There are other titles, but this is the most common.
