As otherwise

hello !
voilà mon problème du jour :
an extra car park is necessary as otherwise we're taking up to much car parking space from our customers...
Je ne comprends pas l'utilisation de " as" dans ce cas précis, est-il lié avec otherwise pour donner un sens précis à la phrase ? as : en tant que ? as tall as you ? dans quel contexte se situe t-on ici, je ne pense pas que as soit dans ce cas utilisé comme comparatif,
merci de m'éclairer !

Bonjour,
Le mot 'as' ici est une conjonction signifiant : car, comme, parce que.
'necessary as otherwise...'= nécessaire car sinon...
See you.

hello,
In this context the conjunction AS has a consequential meaning and is a synonym for BECAUSE and SINCE

The Punisher? Phew !! Well I wouldn't punish myself. Cut out "as" altogether, it's not necessary and if you want to know what "as" means here then Lucile and Inga are right - it means quite simply "because".
(Aside)! too much (not to much) - (perhaps a typing error as we are all prone to do) but the sentence seems unreal. Could I suggest..........
An extra car park is necessary because there isn't enough parking space for our customers.
But then again, you may need to do an exercise using "otherwise" so this sentence isn't all that hot for this word (situation?)
