Voici mon travail :

Write a full analysis comparing these two documents :
James Rosenquist, Marilyn Monroe I. 1962.
Oil and spray enamel on canvas. 93 x 72 ¼ inches ( 236.2 x 183.5 cm)
and
Warhol , Andy. Marilyn diptych. 1962
Acrylic and silkscreen on canvas
208 x 145 cm ( 82 x 57 in)

In the US, the 60s were marked by the pop art era and Marilyn Monroe's death. These documents are two paintings of 1962, one named Marilyn Monroe I ,by James Rosenquist, representing her face on canvas ( 93 x 72 ¼ inches) and the other one by the most famous painter of the pop art era Andy Warhol, Marilyn Diptych, representing fifty faces of Marilyn on canvas ( 82 x 57 inches). As we can see, Marilyn Monroe is the common point of these two paintings. We will discover why we can say that in these two paintings Marilyn is associated with ads and how those painters tried to make us understand that it may be a cause of her death.

Advertising was one of the main aspect of the pop art era and these two paintings are related to it.
In Rosenquist's painting we discover Marilyn's face in several parts and not in order. The left part of this painting is composed with warm colors, mostly with red and orange which can be here to remind us Marilyn's fame. At the time, she was the most glamorous woman and all brands wanted her to do their advertising.
To emphazise that point, Rosenquist used the collage technique to linked the star and ad. In fact, we can notice that there is the logo of the brand Coca cola, in red and white, a world famous drink. Mixing the face of Marilyn with the Coca Cola 's ad shows the link between them.
In Marylin Diptych there is no apparent advertising. The reason is that this painting represents it. In fact, these fifty images of the actress are based on a publicity photograph from the film Niagara. If Warhol reproduced Marilyn's face as many times it is to show her omnipresence in the media.

As you know, death is a step in which everyone will pass. In Rosenquist's work, Marilyn is as I said fragmented and mixed with the coca cola's logo. If we look on the right hand, we can notice that colors are cold unlike the left part of the painting. It may mean that her life was consumed by all his fame and because of her massive presence in the media. We found this view of death in Marilyn Diptych too. When we look on the left of the painting, Marylyn's faces are colored and clear. But if we look on the right, they are in black and white, and more we look on the right more the faces are deleted. We can interpret that as a link between life and death. The bright colors represents life, but black and white colors represents death and the deletion also, representing the fact that Marilyn is not eternal as all humans.

To conclude, these two paintings painted the year of Marilyn's death show how the star was linked with advertising. Nowadays we still see her on tv because brands continues to use her image to promote them, as for example for perfumes. Moreover, she was like us mortal, and both painting show that point, especially Warhol's one. She committed suicide in 1962 and both painters wanted to show trough these works that Marilyn was and still is associated with advertising and it's maybe what that killed her.

As you know, death is a step in which everyone will pass(français traduit). In Rosenquist's work, Marilyn is as I said fragmented and mixed with the coca cola's logo. If we look on the right hand(in the right hand corner), we can notice that colors are cold unlike the left part of the painting. It may mean that her life was consumed by all his fame and because of her massive presence in the media. We found this view of death in Marilyn Diptych too. When we look on the left of the painting, Marylyn's faces are colored (colorful) and clear. But if we look on the right, they are in black and white, and the more we look on the right, the more the faces are deleted. We can interpret that as a link between life and death. The bright colors represents life, but black and white colors represents death and the deletion also, representing the fact that Marilyn is not eternal as(mauvais choix de "comme") all humans.

To conclude, these two paintings painted the year of Marilyn's death show how the star was linked with advertising. Moreover, she was mortal like us , and both paintings show that point, especially Warhol's one. Hello,

Décrire en utilisant "les mots outils" de la description : in the foreground, in the background, at the top, at the bottom, in the middle, in the top-left-hand cormer, in the bottom-right-hand cormer, on the right, on the left, to the righet ..;in the distance ... puis des mots hyper importants comme 'a contrast'between this and that ... the harmony ..., the light colors here (which remind us that she was in the limelights, knew glory, love and success .... the bright colours there symbolizing .... ,the dark colours representing her black side, her depression and the temptations of death because of solitude and drugs ...

aussi ... une comparaison, implique forcément un certain vocabulaire : the differences, the similarities, a parallel the common points, et surtout (and et 'but' ne sont pas 'des mots de liaison !!!)pensez à 'on the one hand ... on the other hand' ..... 'whereas','while','yet', 'similarly', 'contrary to', 'on the contrary', 'as opposed to' ...etc.
